Global flashpoints and human rights in foreign policy - Audio now available

On 21 March 2013, the Human Rights Law Centre hosted Kenneth Roth in conversation with the ABC’s Waleed Aly as they discussed some of the major human rights problems across the globe and explore the various opportunities presented by Australia’s new seat on the UN Security Council.

Kenneth Roth is the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch, one of the world's leading international human rights organizations operating in more than 90 countries.Kenneth Roth has written extensively on a wide range of human rights abuses, devoting special attention to issues of international justice, counter-terrorism, the foreign policies of the major powers, and the work of the United Nations. He is quoted widely in major publications and on television and radio shows, and speaks to audiences around the world.

Human Rights Watch will be launching a presence in Australia later this year. The office will focus primarily on working with the Australian media and government to highlight human rights problems in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, enabling Australia to play a strong and principled leadership role in curbing them.
