Justin Baré joined the Human Rights Law Centre in 2023 in the role of Director of People and Operations.
Justin was the Chief Executive Officer of the University of Melbourne Student Union between 2006 and 2021 and led the organisation through a period of significant change and growth including through the challenges of the pandemic. He has deep experience in governance as well as the development and implementation of people and culture, finance, IT, communications and OHS functions, and in providing high level strategic advice to boards and elected student representatives.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University, a Masters of Tertiary Education Management from the University of Melbourne and is currently completing an MBA (Social Impact) at the University of New South Wales. Justin has also served as President of the VU Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union and on the NTEU’s National Council.
He has been involved in campaigns around public education a, refugee rights and labour rights.
