Treaty body reform – collaborative work with international NGOs

We joined international NGOs to make two public calls for UN member states to provide suitable funding to the UN treaty bodies, and to propose a model for enhanced predictability and coordination of treaty body reviews:

  1. Joint call to States endorsed by 42 organisations urging States to fulfil their respective obligations as set out in General Assembly resolution 68/268 and provide adequate funding to the treaty bodies

  2. Joint NGO proposal endorsed by 86 organisations proposing that treaty bodies should enhance the predictability and coordination of States parties reviews, with the introduction of full reviews followed by focused reviews after four years.
