Submission on Queensland Bill to raise the age of criminal responsibility

The Human Rights Law Centre welcomes a Bill to raise Queensland’s minimum age of criminal responsibility from the current low age of 10 to 14 years. This submission on the Criminal Law (Raising the Age of Responsibility) Amendment Bill sets out the medical, social and legal rationale for raising the age to at least 14, and makes recommendations for the Bill to ensure children are quickly and safely released from prisons.
