Submission on reforms to the Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018 in Queensland

The Human Rights Law Centre supports the proposed amendments to the Termination of Pregnancy Act and Criminal Code because:

  • they will enable nurses and midwifes to perform medical terminations in appropriate circumstances, which will expand access to abortion healthcare, particularly in regional and remote parts of Queensland where shortages of trained providers is an acute issue; and

  • they will ensure that Queensland abortion laws are inclusive of all people who experience pregnancy.
